Description
A classic comfort dish featuring hearty meatballs and twirly spaghetti coated in rich marinara sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 400g Spaghetti
- 500g Ground Beef
- 1 cup Bread Crumbs
- 1 Egg
- 50g Parmesan Cheese, grated
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 Onion, chopped
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 cups Marinara Sauce
- Fresh Basil, for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the Spaghetti: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain, reserving a cup of pasta water for later. Toss with a drizzle of olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until everything is just combined.
- Form Meatballs: With clean hands, shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on a tray.
- Brown the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in your skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully add meatballs, browning them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
- Simmer in Marinara Sauce: Pour marinara sauce into the pan with browned meatballs. Let them simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes.
- Serve: Plate the spaghetti and top with meatballs and sauce. Garnish with fresh basil and additional Parmesan.
Notes
Make meatball mixture a day in advance for enhanced flavor. Try adding chopped spinach or carrots for added nutrition.
