Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Combine heavy cream and milk in a mixing bowl, whisking with salt and pepper until blended.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Spread half of the diced ham and half of the cheddar cheese on top. Repeat these layers.
- Pour the creamy mixture over the layers, ensuring even coverage.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Sprinkle paprika on top for garnish before serving.
