Description

A comforting dish of creamy scalloped potatoes layered with savory ham and cheese, perfect for family gatherings and cozy evenings.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Paprika for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Combine heavy cream and milk in a mixing bowl, whisking with salt and pepper until blended.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Spread half of the diced ham and half of the cheddar cheese on top. Repeat these layers.
  5. Pour the creamy mixture over the layers, ensuring even coverage.
  6. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  8. Sprinkle paprika on top for garnish before serving.
