Description

A delightful cake that captures the essence of summer with vibrant orange flavors and creamy frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Candied orange slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter or cooking spray, then lightly dust it with flour.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy—about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the orange juice and zest until well combined.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla, beating until stiff peaks form.
  8. Frost the cooled cake generously with the whipped frosting and garnish with candied orange slices.
  9. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

This cake can be made ahead and frosted just before serving. For a lighter frosting, consider using whipped topping instead.
