Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg (optional, for egg wash)
Instructions
- Combine the mashed potatoes, warm milk, melted butter, sugar, and salt until well blended.
- Sprinkle the yeast over the mixture and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
- Add in the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about an hour.
- Punch down the dough to release air, then shape it into rolls.
- Arrange the rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced apart for rising.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the tops with egg wash if using.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Consider mixing in herbs like rosemary or garlic for added flavor. If you prepare the dough in advance, it can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
