Description

An indulgent Christmas Eve lasagna that brings family and friends together with its rich layers of cheese, meat, and homemade sauce.


Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef or sausage
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground meat and brown, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  4. Pour in the marinara sauce, stirring well. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Mix the ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl until combined.
  6. Spread a layer of meat sauce at the bottom of your baking dish.
  7. Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, top with half of the ricotta mixture, and sprinkle generously with mozzarella cheese.
  8. Repeat the layering process, finishing with a layer of meat sauce.
  9. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan on the top layer. Cover tightly with foil.
  10. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbling.
  11. Let the lasagna cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can make the lasagna a day ahead and refrigerate it overnight for deeper flavors. Consider using an air fryer for a crispy top layer.
