Description

Delightful chocolate muffins with a unique sourdough twist, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. Whisk together the sourdough starter, flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl until well combined.
  3. Whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, and eggs in another bowl until creamy.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Divide the batter among the muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the batter a day in advance and store in the fridge. You can also bake them in an air fryer for a different texture.
