Description

A comforting blend of creamy cheese and crispy bacon, perfect as a main dish or side for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 4 strips of thick-cut bacon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Breadcrumbs (optional for topping)

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni by boiling salted water and cooking until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove and crumble.
  3. Make the roux by melting butter in the same skillet and whisking in flour for about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add milk gradually, whisking continuously until thickened.
  5. Combine with cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
  6. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  7. Mix the macaroni with the cheese sauce and crumbled bacon.
  8. Optional: Transfer to a baking dish, top with breadcrumbs, and broil for 2-3 minutes until golden.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!
