- 1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions
- Cream the softened butter and cream cheese until fluffy.
- Add the sugars and beat until well combined.
- Incorporate the egg and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
- Combine the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and optional salt, mixing gently.
- Fold in the chocolate chips by hand.
- Chill the dough for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare the baking sheet.
- Bake for 8 to 9 minutes until edges are set but the center is underbaked.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
