Description

A cozy and stress-free take on traditional cabbage rolls made in a slow cooker, featuring seasoned beef, tender cabbage, and a luscious tomato sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
  • 14-ounce can petite diced tomatoes
  • 6-ounce can tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until nicely browned. Drain the excess fat.
  2. Cook the onions and seasonings until the onions soften, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture to the slow cooker and add the chopped cabbage.
  4. Prepare the sauce by mixing the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water in a bowl.
  5. Combine everything by pouring the sauce over the meat and cabbage in the slow cooker and gently mixing.
  6. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, until the cabbage is tender and flavors meld together.

Notes

You can prepare the beef mixture a day in advance. Customize with additional vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for added nutrients and flavor.
