Description

A comforting and flavorful dish featuring tender chicken in a rich honey garlic sauce, perfect for family dinners and gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons water (optional)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Lightly season the chicken with salt and black pepper over both sides.
  2. Whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, ginger, vinegar, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl.
  3. Place the seasoned chicken in the slow cooker and pour the sauce over it, ensuring all pieces are well-coated.
  4. Slow cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours until chicken is tender.
  5. (Optional) Remove cooked chicken and thicken the sauce with cornstarch mixed with water in a saucepan for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Garnish the chicken with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

Prepare the sauce in advance and store it for up to three days to save time. Chicken can also be cooked in the oven if a slow cooker is unavailable.
