Description

Delightful mini pretzel dogs wrapped in soft, chewy pretzel bread, perfect for snacking or sharing at gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound hot dogs
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • Coarse sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add flour and salt. Mix until a dough starts to form.
  4. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Divide the dough into small portions. Roll each piece into a long rope and wrap it around a hot dog.
  6. In a pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda. Carefully submerge each pretzel-wrapped dog for about 30 seconds.
  7. Remove and place them on a baking sheet. Lightly sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Serve with mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For make-ahead, prepare the dough a day in advance and refrigerate. You can also air-fry these pretzel dogs at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes.
