Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound chicken breast, boneless and skinless
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Pita bread or flatbreads
- Lettuce leaves, tomato slices, cucumber slices, red onion slices
- Feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber (grated and drained)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil for tzatziki
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and dill to taste
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken, ensuring it is well-coated in the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the fridge.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and fully cooked. Allow it to rest before slicing.
- While the chicken rests, prepare the tzatziki sauce by combining Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and dill in a mixing bowl.
- Warm the pita bread in a dry skillet or oven until soft.
- Assemble the gyros by layering chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, tzatziki sauce, and crumbled feta cheese in the pita.
- Wrap the pita tightly and enjoy your homemade Mediterranean Chicken Gyros!
Notes
Marinate chicken overnight for best flavor; consider using an air fryer for a healthier cooking option.
