Description

Transform ordinary chicken into a luscious experience with these Mediterranean Chicken Gyros, featuring grilled chicken, creamy tzatziki, and fresh veggies wrapped in warm pita.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast, boneless and skinless
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Pita bread or flatbreads
  • Lettuce leaves, tomato slices, cucumber slices, red onion slices
  • Feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber (grated and drained)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for tzatziki
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and dill to taste

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken, ensuring it is well-coated in the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the fridge.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and fully cooked. Allow it to rest before slicing.
  3. While the chicken rests, prepare the tzatziki sauce by combining Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and dill in a mixing bowl.
  4. Warm the pita bread in a dry skillet or oven until soft.
  5. Assemble the gyros by layering chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, tzatziki sauce, and crumbled feta cheese in the pita.
