Description

Tender beef simmered in rich broth, served with melty provolone on hoagie rolls for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs beef roast (chuck roast recommended)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Begin by placing the beef roast in your slow cooker, ensuring it lays flat for even cooking.
  2. Scatter the sliced onion and minced garlic around the beef.
  3. Pour in the beef broth and water, followed by Worcestershire sauce. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the top.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and set it to low, cooking for about 480 minutes (8 hours).
  5. Once the beef reaches tenderness, remove it from the slow cooker using tongs.
  6. Use two forks to shred the beef.
  7. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and stir it into the broth.
  8. Prepare your hoagie rolls and pile on the shredded beef, topping with provolone cheese.
  9. Serve alongside au jus for dipping.

Notes

For added flavor, consider browning the beef in a skillet before slow cooking.
