Description

Delicious hoagies filled with cheesy meatballs and marinara sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners or family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
  4. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  5. While the meatballs bake, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat.
  6. Once the meatballs are done, add them to the sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
  7. Split the hoagie rolls and lay them on a baking tray.
  8. Spoon the meatballs and sauce into each roll, then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  9. Return the hoagies to the oven and bake for another 5-10 minutes, until the cheese melts and bubbles.
  10. Remove from the oven and serve hot.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the meatballs in advance and refrigerate or freeze before cooking.
