Description

Enjoy the delicious crunch of these Applebee’s-inspired chicken wonton tacos, filled with savory chicken and refreshing slaw.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 chicken breasts, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp minced fresh ginger
  • 1 bag coleslaw mix
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (for slaw)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (for slaw)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 16 wonton wrappers
  • Sweet chili sauce, for serving
  • Chopped cilantro, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly spray the back of a muffin tin with cooking spray. Drape each wonton wrapper over inverted muffin cups and press to create taco shells. Bake for 5-7 minutes until golden and crisp.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add diced chicken and cook for 3-4 minutes until no longer pink.
  4. Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, and ginger. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until glazed and fragrant.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine coleslaw mix, green onions, sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Toss until coated.
  6. Fill each crispy wonton shell with the chicken mixture and top with slaw. Drizzle with sweet chili sauce and garnish with cilantro and sesame seeds.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

You can substitute chicken with tofu, jackfruit, or beans for a vegetarian option. Prepare the chicken mixture in advance for easy assembly.
