- 1 cup warm water
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 large apple, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1–2 tbsp milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, sugar, olive oil, salt, and cinnamon to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once risen, punch down the dough and fold in the diced apple and brown sugar.
- Spread the dough onto a greased baking sheet, creating dimples with your fingers.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth and drizzle over the warm focaccia.
